The Library and archives assisting program is generally administered through the educational department of most colleges and universities.  The program focuses on preparing students to work in a library or record-keeping institution and assist in the organization and storage of materials.

Most public, academic and special libraries require librarians to have a Master’s degree in Library Science and Administration. While school librarians may not be required to possess a Master’s degree, they do need to meet the requirements of their state for a teaching license.

Library science is not just about books any longer, and the field of study tends to reflect that—most of the time it is not referred to as just Library Science but Library and Information Science.

The Social and Philosophical Foundation of Education degree program provides students with advanced study and research in education. They view this from the perspective of the social sciences and humanities disciplines.

Special education and teaching postsecondary programs cover psychology, autism, physical disabilities, speech and language impairments and other mental, emotional and physical disabilities that students have.

Student counseling and personnel services postsecondary academic programs are generally listed under departments at accredited colleges and universities.  The programs cover psychology, sociology, special needs, administration, guidance counseling and student emotional, mental and physical disabilities.

Teaching education and professional development postsecondary programs are continuing education programs that cover technological applications in the classroom, integrated learning methods, combating problem behaviors, information literacy, teaching creativity, effects of poverty on education and bullying prevention.

These programs are generally administered through the social sciences department at most colleges and universities. This degree prepares students for a career as a teacher in a certain subject area of their choosing.
