Although Pennsylvania has major cities like Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Allentown and Pittsburgh, the state also has smaller towns and miles of open land that allow farmers to earn a living and provide produce, fruit and meat to the state’s residents.  Students majoring in subjects like agriculture, farming, botany and chemical engineering may work on existing farms in the state.  These students can also visit the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue and licensing departments and start their own farming or agricultural businesses. 

Sprinkled with approximately 45,000 miles of rivers and lakes and 116 parks, Pennsylvania attracts college students who appreciate the outdoors.  The state is also home to local college and professional sporting teams like the Temple University Owls, University of Pennsylvania Quakers, La Salle University Explorers, Drexel University Dragons, Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Pirates.  While students, particularly undergraduate students, pursue an Associate or Bachelor’s degree they can try out for the athletic teams at colleges and universities they’re enrolled in.  If they perform at top levels, taking Pennsylvania colleges and universities to regional and national competitions and championships, they may secure contracts with some of the states professional athletic teams.
